INTRODUCTION
Neville is a certified Tavistock executive coach, specializing in the systems psychodynamic method of coaching. Neville’s focus in coaching is on helping leaders achieve their potential in a real and authentic way and his special interest is in assisting leaders with career shifts and transitions (moving into, up and through an organisation).
COACHING EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
While Neville’s approach to executive coaching is eclectic and based on the needs of each client, he favours what is called the systems psychodynamic approach to coaching which essentially means working with the entire system and working below the surface. He tries to understand the role the person plays in the organisation and the dynamic interplay between the individual leader or manager, his/her role and the organizational context in which they work, at both an obvious and a hidden level. The purpose is to forge new meanings and understandings and achieve greater clarity about oneself, one’s work and the organisation. This new understanding, if applied and practised, translates into more authentic interactions and greater effectiveness in one’s role, benefitting both the individual and the organisation.
Neville likes to think of himself as a “thinking partner” to business leaders, assisting them to effectively take up their leadership roles with meaning, purpose and authenticity. He has been particularly successful in helping leaders improve their EQ in managing relationships at work and has a special interest in helping leaders navigate career transitions.
Neville’s passion is in improving the alignment between company strategy and individual talent and performance. Neville has worked with middle and senior/executive level managers in the manufacturing, aviation, food/beverage, engineering, construction, healthcare, forestry, finance, insurance, banking, auditing, real estate, motor and telecommunications sectors as well as local government/municipalities.
EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE
Neville has had over 20 years experience working in large, blue chip South African organisations in a variety of senior, generalist Human Resource functions covering Resourcing (selection and recruitment), Learning and Development and Industrial Relations (in unionised environments).
During the past ten years Neville has specialised in Organisation Development and has gained valuable experience in the fields of employee engagement, key employee retention and talent management as well as change management for large scale change implementations and organisation restructurings. As part of a global organisation, Neville has had the opportunity of working on a variety of cross-cultural, global projects, including the design and implementation of a leadership development suite of programs.
In 2018 Neville completed a doctoral degree in Consulting Psychology. The title of his thesis is coaching leaders in career transition. He has a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology and is registered with the Health Professionals’ Council of South Africa as an Industrial Psychologist.
